A Weston Hills man has been fined in relation to a pile of fly-tipped tyres.
Christopher Cooley, of St Johns Road in the village was found guilty, in his absence, of failing to help a South Holland District Council officer in the execution of his duties between November 14, 2022 and January 11, 2023.
The authority said the order related to 20 tyres dumped on land off Old Fendike Road in October last year and Cooley failed to respond to requests under the Environment Act 1995.
For not helping the officer he was fined £660, ordered to pay £362.18 costs and a victim surcharge of £264 by Boston Magistrates Court.
Cooley, 43, had previously been charged that between October 8 and 9, 2022 he caused the depositing of tyres without a waste management permit and of being the owner of a domestic property that had failed to take all reasonable circumstances to prevent a contravention of the Environmental Health Act.
Both these charges were withdrawn.

“Fly-tipping is sadly one of the biggest enviro-crime issues we face as a rural community, this prosecution result is yet another reminder that we as a council will not put up with it, whether it be in our towns, villages or as in this case, open-countryside.”
