Weather frustrates Tulips

Spalding United manager Brett Whaley says having two more games called off is ‘frustrating’.
The Tulips had been hoping to bounce back from their first defeat of the season against Cambridge City on January 8, but have had all their fixtures postponed since then including scheduled fixtures against Corby on Saturday and Bedworth on Tuesday.
“When you’ve lost a game you want to get back and playing as quickly as you can,” he said. “You want to get back to where you were at before that.
“We’ve not been able to put the training sessions we’d like on either, so it’s frustrating, but each player has their own fitness regime and we’re not the only club in this position.
“We’re putting everything we can to get ourselves into the best position possible and can’t be making excuses for ourselves.”
It’s something Saturday’s visitors to the Sir Halley Stewart, Sutton Coldfield Town have not had to worry about.
They play on a 3G pitch so were able to draw 2-2 with Loughborough Dynamo last Saturday and also played a local cup fixture on Tuesday night.
The Tulips won 1-0 in the reverse fixture at the beginning of last month.
“They gave us a really good game, so we know it’s going to be tough,” said Whaley. “They’re a good side.
“They’ve played twice this week while we’ve been without a game for a few weeks, but they’ve also been playing on really good services.
“The pitch on Saturday is likely to be a leveller.”
