New lines up at busy junction

A councillor has welcomed new parking measures being brought in at a busy Spalding junction.

Double yellow lines have been painted around where Winsover Road, Bourne Road, Hawthorn Bank, Carrington Road meet.

County councillor Angela Newton says it’s something she’s been campaigning for over the last two years with three shops being situated in close proximity.

“Before people were parking up and down the road restricting the views of vehicles looking to come out on to Bourne Road and Winsover Road,” Coun Newton said. “They had to pull out in the middle of the road to see what was coming.”

Coun Newton now says she wants to try and get a pelican crossing installed where the current zebra crossing is.

“It would have flashing beacons and make drivers more aware the crossing is there,” she continued.
