Support for Parkinson’s sufferers

President of Spalding’s UK Parkinson’s branch, Sir John Hayes, has demonstrated his ongoing support this World Parkinson’s Day.

Attending a parliamentary session to hear from some of the 145,000 people affected by the condition in the UK, Sir John said: “It was incredibly powerful to hear the personal stories of people living with Parkinson’s. The complexity of this condition, the challenges sufferers and their families face in accessing timely, high-quality Parkinson’s care shows there is much more to be done for their sake.

“World Parkinson’s Day is an invaluable time to reflect on what we can all do to show our support for people living with Parkinson’s and their families.”

Such conversations increase understanding of what it’s like to live with Parkinson’s or as the carer of someone with the condition. This year, members of the Parkinson’s community chose to encourage people to talk about Parkinson’s, increasing visibility and understanding of the fastest growing neurological condition, without a cure, in the world.
