Gary Frost hopes to have as many as five new signings in his Holbeach United squad for Saturday’s huge derby at Sleaford Town (3pm).
The Tigers chief is having to perform major surgery on his Tigers team, given that they sit bottom of the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division with just two points and three goals from their 13 games so far.
Hosts Sleaford are nine points clear of Holbeach, so defeat there would see them open up a sizeable advantage.
In contrast to the Tigers, Sleaford have enjoyed a recent upturn in form that has coincided with them adding a number of new players to their squad.
The likes of Mitch Griffiths and Joe Smith, both former Holbeach players, have signed in recent weeks, as has Tyler Wright – who left Holbeach last week.
They’ve won three of their last four in all competitions and have shot clear of the drop zone.
Frost is hoping his side can get the same kind of momentum going, starting with a win at Eslaforde Park.
He said: “We need an injection of fresh talent and I’m hopeful we’ll be able to announce four or five new signings soon.
“Earlier in the season we relied way too much on youth, what we need are experienced heads.
“We’re not too far adrift at the bottom, so a win would give us that momentum we so badly need. We’ve got a game in hand on all of our rivals and have 20-odd games to go, so we’re certainly not dead and buried yet.
“If we can get the side balanced, there’s no reason why we can’t beat Sleaford and build from there.”
