School’s spooky competition

Pupils at a primary school have been rewarded with vouchers for their carving skills.

Weston St Mary’s C of E Primary School organised the competition to decorating and carve pumpkins kindly donated to them by Tyrrell Farms.

The final designs were judged by Emerald Homes’ manager James Major-Mackay – who was so impressed with the children’s designs he awarded every pupil with a £10 voucher.

This is the second time, Emerald Homes and Weston St Mary’s have worked side by side in order to ensure pupils are given the freedom to express themselves creatively.

Earlier in the year, Emerald Homes ran a competition in the school, giving students the opportunity to choose the name of their new housing development in Weston.

James said: “It’s really positive to support the local community by getting involved with the school. This is the second event we have run in conjunction with the school and we hope to continue to support the school again.”

Rachel Walker, head of school, added: “It’s really supportive of Emerald Homes to get involved in our school.

“Many of our children live near the development and are watching the progress of the site. They have thoroughly enjoyed the events so far and are looking forward to working with Emerald Homes more in the future.”
