Gosberton set for Septemberfest

Folk legends Martin and Eliza Carthy are headlining a weekend of music and events coming to Gosberton’s St Peter and St Paul’s Church from September 17-19.

Septemberfest is part of English Heritage’s Future of the Past series of events and the link up with Sound Lincs is to feature some excellent musical talent, many of whom will be playing their first gigs for months.

It begins on the Friday night (September 17) with a line up packed with musical talent, much of it local.

The band Auburn will join Zebra, Crossing The Tracks and the Choir Vibe group playing the church alongside guests the Conroy Irish Dancing Academy.

A licenced bar will be in the church for the event.

It’s to be followed on the Saturday by a day with fun for all the family in the church from 11am to 4pm.

There’ll be arts and crafts workshops, t-shirt designing, a treasure hunt, children’s cinema and the chance to access parts of the church such as the tower not usually open to the public.

There will also be an African drumming workshop and the chance to learn the ukulele.

The Sunday will see a special live performance from folk legend for the last 50 years Martin Carthy, playing with his multi-award winning daughter Eliza.

It’s all been put together by English Heritage’s cultural facilitator and Auburn lead singer Liz Lenton.

“It is going to be amazing so please come along,” she said. “Everyone has worked really hard to put this fantastic line-up together.

“For many performers it will be their first performances in a long time and it’s hugely exciting to be able to bring these acts to Gosberton.”

Tickets cost £30 for the weekend, or £20 each for the Friday and the Sunday with an entry fee of £2 for the Saturday.
