Police have issued a reminder to drivers after two transit vans were taken in South Holland.
In both instances the keys were left inside the vehicle.
The first incident saw a white transit van taken in Gendey Hill around midday on Saturday July 31.
Yesterday, (Thursday August 5) a second such van was taken from Park Gardens in Holbeach reported at around 10am.
A police spokesman said: “Officers are issuing a reminder to drivers about the security of their vehicles after two transit vans were stolen in the South Holland area.
“In both these cases, the keys were left in the vehicle, allowing opportunist thieves to steal them.
“Please be vigilant when it comes to keys, whether they belong to your own vehicle or a work vehicle, and keep in mind the following advice:
- Don’t leave your keys in the vehicle unattended.
- Keep your keys out of reach and out of sight when at home. They are vulnerable to being snatched in sneak-in burglaries.
- Keep your keys secure when out and about. Keep them on your person if you can.
- Keep spare keys secure and safe at all times.
- When using remote locking key fobs check for visible or audible signals that your vehicle locked when you pressed the button.
“If you have any information about the two recent incidents of theft, please call 101 with the relevant reference number, 183 of July 31 or 116 of August 5.”
