Follow up to Richard Corlett’s letter of 10/12/20: He could not be more correct in his comments, but I would like to also add, I do wonder if the people who come up with these ideas live in or around the village of Holbeach, or if they live out of town, and don’t understand the problems the one-way or closure will cause us all.
The other problem is, that we are all older people, and most, if not all, are disabled, so need to use cars etc to get to the shops.
We lived in a large town before coming here some years ago, and they closed the main road through that town, killing off what was left of the shops there.
Why don’t these people coming up with all their ideas put this money to better use by making the roads better to drive on?
I know we have all been asked to put our views, but believe me when I say they are never either listened to or taken into account.
We spend 2/3 months in France, and the money (council tax) is paid to the mayor of the village, who has the say how it is spent, but before anything is undertaken, they have a meeting of all that live in the village, and then move forward to do or not to do anything, and any money left over, goes to other things or stays in the pot until needed, I do feel this would work as a better idea in UK.
