As yet unnamed, the new development, if approved by South Holland District Council, would be adjacent to the McDonald’s restaurant in Vicarage Lane, just off the A17. It would take several years to complete, including creating and stocking a fishing lake.
Mr Hoey, who runs Foreman’s Bridge Caravan Park site at Sutton St James, said: “It will cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to do and will have a caravan workshop and sales centre as well as the self-catering accommodation. There will be from ten to 30 full-time jobs as a result.
“We want to create something nice. We moved to the area 12 years ago and made it our home so we will be doing things properly.
“There are plenty of hotels or bed and breakfast accommodation, but there is definitely a need for more self-catering.”
A total of 65 residential units are on the plan, but full details have yet to be confirmed. There will also be the caravan sales and repair centre along with a site office.
Coun John Clarey, of Long Sutton Parish Council, said the proposed site would be “two or three times bigger” than Foreman’s Bridge.
“We are not against it at all, but we do need more information and have asked a lot of questions,” he said. “It will share an access with McDonald’s which is very, very busy.”
The parish council has told the district council that “further vehicle movements in this area will be problematic and dangerous for both vehicles and pedestrians”.
Coun Clarey stressed that the council was not against the scheme and hoped any issues could be ironed out.
