Young chefs show off their skills

Students from Spalding High School, Spalding Academy and Bourne Academy all competed to be the Rotary Young Chef of the Year.

The students were challenged to cook a main course and dessert for two people on a budget of just £14.

The event took place at Spalding High School and head judge Robert Presland, of Peterborough Regional College, congratulated all the entrants on their excellent meals and presented the prizes to winners.

Winner Georgia Bedford

First place went to Georgia Bedford, of Spalding High school, second placed was Bronwyn Roche, of Bourne Academy, with Jessica Thorpe, of Spalding Academy, coming third.

The Rotarians thanked South Lincs Food services which has sponsored the competition for many years.

Rodney Britten said: “The school had to restrict the number of people present due to Covid, so we only had eight entrants instead of the usual 15-20. It was a good competition which the entrants managed very well even though they had to wear masks.”
