Nottingham Indoor Bowls Club hosted a junior county friendly between Lincolnshire and Leicestershire on Sunday.
Four young stars from Spalding – Max Butters, Jessica Butters, Aidan Brickles and Nathan Puttrell – were part of the Lincolnshire team that won by 30 shots (83-53).
Puttrell and Jessica Butters were part of a rink that won 24-10 and Max Butters and Brickles were part of another rink that won 29-10.
qOn Sunday, Spalding Lightning crashed out of the Egham Trophy with defeat against Lincoln.
The early exchanges were close, but Lincoln dominated the second half of the match as they won 56-81.
Rink scores: Home – Kevin Ekins, Julie Hicks, Annie Dunham and Martin Spencer drew 16-16; Danielle Wild, Tracy Philpott, Graham Smith and Jordan Philpott lost 18-20. Away – Jean Patterson, Simon Lilley, Chelsea Spencer and Dominic McVittie lost 12-19; Ruby Hill, Louise Harris, Stephen Harris and Mathew Orrey lost 10-26.
qOn Saturday, Spalding Indoor Bowls Club hosted Stamford A in the men’s county league.
Stamford won by 11 shots (63-74) and on three out of the four rinks which saw a 2-12 match result in the away team’s favour.
Rink scores: Nick Wilkie, Robin Roffe, Graham Hicks and Kevin Ekins won 21-13; Mick Dolton, Ian Stafford, James Teesdale and Dan Mills lost 16-21; Tony Westland, Aidan Brickles, David Nunney and Stephen Harris lost 14-21; Eric Wakefield, Max Butters, Anthony Cronin and Brian Martin lost 12-19.
qOn Wednesday, Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s ladies travelled to Stamford in their next fixture of the Trudy Bates county league.
Spalding were always chasing as Stamford opened up and early lead, but Spalding went ahead briefly at 15 ends, albeit only by a single shot.
However, Stamford finished the stronger of the two teams as they won the overall aggregate by 11 shots (76-87).
Although Spalding won on three out of four rinks, they were unable to secure the all-important aggregate points which resulted in a match score of 8-6 to Stamford.
Spalding’s top winning rink was skipped by Betty Deaton, with Ann Newbury, Michelle Billingsley and Petrine Ault who won 22-15.
The next Trudy Bates fixture will be at home against Sleaford on Thursday, January 9.
