Spalding’s annual Open singles bowls tournament takes place on December 27 and 28 at the Castle Sports Complex – and boasts a field of top class talent which includes the current world number one Nicky Brett.
The tournament is part of the Open Singles Circuit, with Brett joined by players from across the country, as well as local talent.
Players in action include Spalding’s international stars Ruby Hill, Graham Smith, Martin Spencer, Matt Whyers and Jordan Philpott.
Each match will be played under the sets format, with play commencing at 6pm on December 27 and all day from 8am the next day.
Entrance is free and refreshments will be available, with everybody encouraged to come along and support the event.
- Spalding IBC’s fifth over-60s county league game of the season was at home against reigning champions Lincoln A.
Spalding started confidently against a strong Lincoln side, with three rinks having very close games throughout.
However, Spalding ended up winning on only one rink – resulting in a two-point haul to Lincoln’s 16. The aggregate score was close with a difference of only 13 shots, (93-106).
Spalding’s winning rink was skipped by Alan Browne, with Graham Hicks, David Head, and Brian Skelton. Captain for the day was David Lunn assisted by Graham Hicks.
