Win tickets to see top brass band

A world famous colliery band are continuing a tradition of playing for The Rotary Club of the Deepings this Christmas – and you could be there too.

The Grimethorpe Colliery Band, who achieved worldwide fame when they appeared in the film Brassed Off, are back for their annual festive feast on Saturday, December 10.

And we’ve got two pairs of tickets to giveaway to see the show.

With usual venue the Deepings Leisure Centre being closed, this year the event will take place at Kingsgate Community Church on Staplee Way, Peterborough.

A spokesman for The Rotary Club of the Deepings, said: “Grimethorpe Band have been coming to the Deepings at Christmas time for nearly 30 years, of which Deepings Rotary have organised the concert for about the last 25 years.

“For those of you who have never been to a brass band concert or even know of the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, now is an unmissable chance to come and see the world famous musicians at their best.

“It still amuses me that one week the bgand will be performing at the Albert Hall, London, coming to our concert at the beginning of December in Deepings and then may be performing at the Sydney Opera House, Australia.

“The band has played all over the world, starred in Brassed Off and is still happy to come to the Deepings Rotary concert, we are their longest continuous booking and we are proud of it.”
