Welcome win for resurgent Spalding RFC against high-flying Ashby

Spalding RFC enjoyed their most memorable win of the Midlands Three East (North) season on Saturday as they edged out second-placed Ashby 20-17 at the Memorial Field.

Tries from Jason Steels, Ashton Capes and George Douglas – plus a key penalty from Willis Ingleby – got the job done for Town.

Their fourth win of the season moves Spalding five points clear of the bottom two.

Midlands Three East (North): Mansfield 23 Kesteven 21; Sileby Town 17 Birstall 48; Sleaford 24 Belper 22; Spalding 20 Ashby 17.
