Weekend of fun in village

A Moulton street is set for blooming marvellous weekend.

Church Lane is holding a Sunflower Walk arts and crafts weekend on Saturday and Sunday, September 3 and 4, 10am to 4pm.

The free market-in-driveways event will include paintings, pottery, greetings cards, macrame, plants, knitted toys and soft goods, home-baked cakes and fun events such as spot the black sunflower and learn how to make a Tussie Mussie (a small Victorian posie).

Organiser Mary Brice said: “It’s back by popular demand after so many people, both exhibitors and public who came along to the first Sunflower Walk last year, said how much they enjoyed it.”

Last year’s event drew the community together in a safe, outdoors environment as the worst of the Covid pandemic drew to a close.

Arts and crafts, mostly local, will be exhibited for free in driveways in Church Lane in Moulton “on loan” by residents for the weekend.

There will be unique gifts available at bargain prices with stall holders able to raise some money for their chosen charities if they wish.

There is no charge for those wishing to have a space – contact Mary on 01406 371209. She would also like to hear from any resident in Church Lane willing to give up their driveway for the weekend.

The sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine and the local organiser for help for people in Ukraine will attend with a Box of Hope charity collection, and to talk about her work for the war-torn country.
