Anglian Water has apologised to Spalding residents in Park Road, saying works surrounding it are now complete.
A whole new sewer has had to be relaid under the road causing months of traffic problems.
The water company say that just after the works was completed, a burst water main caused yet more disruption while further work took place.
Anglian Water said that had been a separate issue from the sewer works.
A company spokesperson said: “Our teams have re-laid the sewer on Park Road, Spalding, in order to prevent blockages in the pipe, which can cause pollution if they are not removed.
“This work was completed towards the end of 2022, although unfortunately there were several complications during the work that extended it.
“Since the road reopened following the sewer repairs, we have also fixed a burst water main in Park Road in late January, during which time the road was closed again.
“Although we have worked hard to minimise disruption for residents, by keeping them informed via letter and working through weekends to finish repairs more quickly, we do recognise the inconvenience these repairs have caused.
“We would like to apologise for the disruption, and thank all our customers in Spalding for their patience while we carry out this crucial work.”
The issue was brought up at a recent meeting of the Spalding Town Forum by Coun Jack Maclean, who urged the authority to get an answer on the issue as to why so much work had been done.
