Warning after Gosberton Clough couple fall victim to doorstep con

Police have issued a warning for residents to be on their guard after a couple in Gosberton Clough were victims of a distraction burglary.

The incident happened around 8pm on Wednesday, September 9, at a property in Clough Road.

A man knocked and the door claiming to be from the waterboard. He told the residents that he needed to find the stop tap in order to deal with a neighbour’s burst pipe.
The man was allowed into the house and kept the couple occupied in the kitchen while another offender climbed into the bedroom through a rear window.

An amount of cash was stolen, along with a wallet and bank cards.
It is believed there were three offenders in total, all wearing dark clothing. The first man was wearing a black puffa jacket and a hat with a peak and ear flaps.
