Spalding residents are being asked where police should patrol as part of the scheme to encourage officers to take more overtime.
A three-month trial is taking place in Spalding for ‘hotspot policing’, adding to a trial already taking place in other parts of Lincolnshire.
South Holland District Council and the Spalding Town Board says it has allocated ‘up to £40,000’ which encourages police overtime.
Lincolnshire Police have told The Voice that the Spalding scheme is separate to the county wide trial, even though it has the same name; while the Office for the Police and Crime Commissioner describe it as an ‘extension’ of the existing trial.
Now a survey has been launched to ask the public where the new trials should target.
A ‘Lincolnshire Alert’ put out by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner states: “Hotspot policing is a crime prevention initiative where police patrol targeted locations where data indicates there is significantly more crime than other locations.
“Some areas within Spalding town centre have been identified for increased policing patrols, and we therefore want to understand your views on crime in Spalding, in particular, anti-social behaviour.
“The survey will take less than five minutes to complete, and it will provide key feedback that will influence future policing in Spalding.
“We want to hear from as many Spalding residents as possible.”
