Around 2,500 homes were left without internet or a land line in the Moulton Chapel area after thieves stole cables.
One resident who did not wish to be named said they’d been without either since 2am on Monday, January 19.
Lincolnshire Police say they were called to a theft of a cable at Roman Road in Moulton Chapel around 8.50am.
An Openreach spokesman said that ‘up to 2,500 homes’ were affected.
“We’re disappointed that residents in Moulton Chapel have borne the brunt of malicious damage and theft of cables from our phone and broadband network.
“This causes significant disruption to everyday lives and puts vulnerable people at risk.
“Our engineers are already working on getting people reconnected as soon as possible.
“We’d like to ask people living in the local area to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity around our network to the police on 101, or ring 999 if a crime is in progress.”
Coun Anthony Casson said that ‘seven or eight’ vans and workforce were in attendance on Roman Road this morning (Tuesday, January 21).
Temporary traffic lights were put in place for the work on that day and are scheduled to be in place until late on Friday, January 24.
“There’s already more traffic than usual in the area due to the road closure for the works on the bridge,” said Coun Casson referencing the South Holland Drainage Board’s work to replace the culvert over the Wheat Mere Drain.
