Unbeaten League One duo dazzle with emphatic wins on a freezing night

Freezing conditions didn’t stop the action in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League on Monday night – and it was unbeaten League One duo Tekkerslovakia and FC Salad Fingers who shone the brightest.

Tekkerslovakia continued their more-than-impressive opening to the season with a 5-0 win over Bowlcut Wanderers in the third tier opener at Surfleet’s Glen Park.

The second-placed side are yet to concede this season – and that stat is one which they can hold with great pride.

Match that with the fact they can now find the goal at the other end and there’s no reason why they can’t challenge for the title.

Carlos Costa provided the injection of creativity as he grabbed a well-deserved man of the match (MOTM) prize.

Game two saw Mail Carters make it three matches unbeaten as they beat ABCDE FC 2-1.

Another impressive showing to follow last week’s draw against the league leaders ensures that, for once, Mail Carters aren’t the whipping boys of the bottom tier. There was also a second MOTM for Luke Forknall.

FC Salad Fingers, not to be outdone by title rivals Tekkerslovakia, thumped Dynamo Kiev 7-0 to further cement their spot at the peak of the table.

The leaders have now netted a division-best 19 goals in their first five matches and have conceded just once.

Liam Barnett had a field day in front of goal and duly picked up the MOTM award.

The final game in League One was a familiar story for How Far Can You Swim? as they scored twice and led Loftus-Cheeky Nando’s 2-1, only to be outdone and go down 4-2.

It’s now five defeats on the trot for the Salad lads, while Wes Wilson’s MOTM helped send the Loftus boys third.

The opening game in the Premier League was a non-starter, after Gladiators produced a no-show. Their inability to field a team meant You’ve Got No Fans kicked-off of the evening with a 5-0 walkover.

Match two was a 1-1 draw between Univeg Team and The Predators as the duo continue to go toe-to-toe in the recent form guide.

Ramunas Jurevicius was MOTM in this game, his second of the season.

Meanwhile, AFC Supernova and Football Club kept referee Andrew Rudd on his toes as the pair played out a physical and feisty game, which Football Club won 3-0.

Football Club, who are on a three-game winning streak, had Marcus Parry as their MOTM.

The top tier rounded off with an enjoyable and quite relaxed affair as leaders Polishborough beat Jimmy Floyd Bottlebank 3-2 to remain unbeaten this season.

Despite the tricky conditions, Polishborough settled quickly and played their usual quick-moving style of play. It was a good, fair and pleasurable game and one which provided a great advert for the league.

Brazilian Paulo Junior grabbed MOTM.

The Championship got under way with a breathless and incredible game between Horse & Groom and Nibblesborough FC.

Horse & Groom eventually won 5-3, as the pair attempted to outscore one another.

Danny Hunt was MOTM in this one.

Simple FC continue to enjoy a mini-revival in form.

Last month they couldn’t buy a win, but November has seen them notch a draw and two credible wins. The difference? MOTM Alex Cammack.

His goal-scoring ability seems to provide the missing link for Simple and their latest win, a 4-2 smash and grab over Maly and Team.

Posh Old Boys, meanwhile, jumped four spots to sit as league leaders after a 3-0 win over Pathetic Athletic, who prop up the foot of the table.

The top of the table is actually shaping up to be a tight one, and Posh’s four-place rise from this result is testament to that.

Posh had Shane Millar as MOTM.

Romasexuals and Puyol Pants Down rounded off an exciting middle-tier with a 1-1 stalemate.

As per usual, both teams were first-rate and positive and effectively cancelled one another out.

Reece Snade was picked as MOTM by referee Richard Wilde, but even with his good showing, Roma couldn’t quite see themselves home.
