Tydd ladies take victory in AM-AM competition

A fantastic performance from the Tydd St Giles ladies saw them take overall victory in the recent four-ball AM-AM competition held at Spalding Golf Club.

The event attracted a strong field of 14 teams of four with players competing in excellent spirit throughout the day.

Representing Tydd St Giles were Chris Bennett, Petra Meir, Michele Ralph and Shirley Johnson who combined superbly to record an outstanding winning score of 91 points.

Their consistent play and teamwork across the course secured them first place overall and brought home the top honours for Tydd St Giles.

The team were delighted with the result after a highly competitive day against teams from across the region.

The seniors’ team played an away fixture against Gedney Hill Golf Club with Gedney Hill winning 5/2.

A special arrangement saw old friends Trevor Sewell from Tydd playing against old rival Carol Plume from Gedney Hill.

Results: Seniors’ stableford May 12 – Division 1 – 1st Gary Edwards 39 points, 2nd Michael Flint 37 points, 3rd Mick Vassall 34 points. Division 2 – 1st Alan Thompson 37 points, 2nd Anthony Stephens 33 points, 3rd (ocb) Jonathan Schultz 32 points. Division 3 – 1st Baz Smith 40 points, 2nd Trevor Sewell 37 points, 3rd Graham Ralph 35 points.

Men’s May Medal Division 1 – 1st Gino Ciuffini net 71, 2nd ocb Lee Belger net 72, 3rd Michael Bates net 72. Division 2 – 1st Will Woodrow net 70 (ocb), 2nd Brian Newby net 70 (ocb), 3rd Gary Allen net 70. Division 3 – 1st Vajda Csongorarpad net 68, 2nd Richard Young net 72, 3rd Luke Stanford net 73.
