Spalding United have snapped up midfielder Jonathan Ngandu after his release from National League North club Darlington.
Ngandu (22) was at Coventry City as a junior and made his first-team debut soon after his 17th birthday. He then had spells with Icelandic club Keflavik and Scottish sides Hamilton Academicals and Stranraer before a move to Stratford Town saw him eventually transferred to Darlington.
He scored twice in 19 games for the County Durham side and Tulips manager Elliot Sandy said: “Jonny was outstanding for Stratford against us last season. He’s the type of young and ambitious player we want and I look forward to working with him.”
p Kai Brownhill has been appointed as manager of Peterborough League champions Moulton Harrox.
The former Bourne Town Reserves, Glinton & Northborough, Oakham United, Ketton and King’s Cliffe manager takes over from Kev Nottingham.
Brownhill said: “After a short break, I feel energised and ready to start planning pre-season No.18, which will present a new exciting challenge for me with the current Peterborough Premier League champions.”
Moulton’s pre-season training starts on July 3 with an open training session for anyone interested in joining the team.
The club has revealed its pre-season programme, which so far consists of four matches – July 20, FC Fishtoft, away, 2.30pm; July 24, Boston United u19s, home, 7pm; July 31, Parson Drove, home, 7pm; August 3, Oakham United, tbc.
League rivals Crowland Town also have a busy time ahead of the 2024/25 with five friendlies already planned – July 6, Soham Town Rangers, home 2pm; July 13, Glinton & Northborough, home 2pm; July 20, FC Peterborough, home, 2pm; July 23, Blackstones, home 6.30pm; and August 3, Wyberton, away, 2pm, with more to be arranged.
p Holbeach United have arranged a wide variety of warm-up matches for the new Eastern Counties League Division One North season.
They open on Saturday, July 6, with a trip to United Counties League Premier Division North side Lincoln United and are at Wisbech Town three days later before welcoming Norfolk Senior Cup winners Downham Town to Carter’s Park on July 13, 2pm.
The pre-season highlight is the visit of Ian Culverhouse’s newly-promoted National League Boston United on July 17, 7.30pm. The rest of the programme takes in Soham Town Rangers, away, July 20, 3pm; Bourne Town, away, July 23, 7.45pm; and Wisbech St Mary, home, July 27, 3pm.
