Tulips fans on target with food bank support

Their team’s game against Rugby Town may have been postponed due to a water-logged pitch on Saturday, but Spalding United fans were still on form to help a local charity.

The club launched a Tulips Against Hunger, Christmas foodbank appeal.
For their scheduled ‘Pitching In’ Northern Premier Midlands Division game on Saturday, supporters were asked to bring in food to be donated to the Agape food bank in the town.
After the fixture was called off, the club instead opened the Sir Halley Stewart on the Sunday morning so fans could drop off their donations then.
The club was able to put together an excellent donation of food that will be donated by Agape to those who otherwise might go without this Christmas.
The second placed Tulips are due to be back in action on Saturday when they travel to bottom of the table AFC Rushden and Diamonds in the league.
They’re then scheduled to be in county cup action at the Sir Halley Stewart on Tuesday night against Grimsby Town.
Elliot Sandy’s side will be looking to get past the League Two side after beating the Grantham Town team they lost to in the competition’s final last season in the first round.
