TOWN CENTRE MANAGER: Beer Festival and Festival of Food and Drink coming up

I had the great pleasure of attending the production of the musical Oliver!, recently staged at the South Holland Centre by Spalding Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society and was hugely impressed with the high standard of acting, singing and dancing.
The cast were all very impressive and their performance highlights the outstanding talent there is locally. So well done to them.
The Round Table Beer Festival this coming weekend will highlight still more talent on the musical front, with a line up of 17 bands and soloists, many of which are local to the district.
Taking place at the Castle Sports Complex from Friday evening (May 27) to Sunday evening (May 29), the Beer Festival will offer something for all the family.
Apart from an excellent selection of real ales organised by Charlie Rawlings from the Prior’s Oven and Austendyke Ales at Weston Hills, there will be many activities and attractions for the children and a range of hot foods available.
This is a charity event, raising money for many local good causes.
Many of you will have seen the giant Aldabra tortoises in the town centre a couple of Fridays ago and because they were so popular, it has been decided to invite them and their owner and keeper Adrian Graham to the Spalding and South Holland Festival of Food and Drink on July 9 and 10.
Adrian got his first tortoise when he was four and now has more than 43 of them and shows them at county shows and other events all over the country.
Adrian gave up his life and work down south three years ago and moved up to Lincolnshire just for the giant tortoises.
He said: “Here they have the space, land and facilities to provide them with everything they need.
“They are very intelligent and hardy animals and thoroughly enjoy the interaction with people”.
The Festival is to take place at the Vista and Ayscoughfee Hall and the Parish Church will be running supporting events over the same weekend.
There are still places available for stall holders, so if you are interested please give me a call on 01775 766729.
PS. Don’t forget the Market Traders’ charity auction this coming Saturday, starts at noon, bring items for sale from 7am.
All money raised is again for a local good cause.
Please support your town events!
