Ton up for relentless Moulton Harrox in crushing Leverington Sports win

Moulton Harrox chalked up another impressive milestone in their stellar season as they thrashed Leverington Sports 8-0 in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division On Saturday.

The unbeaten leaders moved six points clear at the top of the table with their 16th win from 17 league games – and netted their 100th goal of the campaign in the process.
Ian Bradbury (2), Ollie Maltby (2), Jonny Clay, Guy Mantle, Bobby Patterson and Joe Townsend netted for Dave Panton’s side, who remain on-course for a treble.

The Harrox boss was once again full of praise for his red-hot side – but has told them they need to keep that going at second-placed Whittlesey Athletic this Saturday (2pm).

Panton said: “It was a great performance by the players.

“We were against a poor Leverington side who – like a few clubs – are clearly struggling to attract players but put up a good battle, particularly in the second half.

“Our stats are interesting and very pleasing. We have scored 100 goals this season – exactly 50 at home and 50 away and conceded in the low 20s, which is great.

“We have reached that time of the season now with quarter and semi-finals approaching, so we need to maintain and even continue to raise our standards particularly against Whittlesey this Saturday.

“I’m sure they will want to avenge our Christmas win so we will all need to be on our ‘A’ game for it.

“Well done to Guy for getting his first for the club and ‘Bradders’ for hitting the 100th goal.

CENTURY: Ian Bradbury got Moulton's 100th of the season.

“The only disappointment to the game was a number of yellow cards which, in my opinion, were very unnecessary in a game that had a good atmosphere and no malice at all.

“I felt the referee Mr Mansfield was very over the top at times and the way he spoke to both the players on both sides and club members was unnecessary and frankly rude. I hope he learns that clubs like Moulton support referees and respect is a two way thing.”

Harrox got off to the best-possible start at Broad Lane as Mantle opened his account for the club with a fine solo goal after just 26 seconds.

The rest of the first period was one-way traffic, with Moulton in total control.

The In-form Maltby got on the scoresheet as well as defenders Clay and Patterson, with Clay smashing home after a great overlapping run and Patterson burying a trademark bullet header from Billy King’s corner.

Bradbury, who is searching for full fitness, rounded off the first-half scoring with a fine effort into the top corner.

After half time Moulton were just as dominant and disciplined. Townsend re-discovered his scoring form and Maltby notched his second of the game, before Brabdury buried Harrox’s 100th of the campaign to round off the rout.

Moulton: Kenealy, Groves, Clay, Coddington, Patterson, Mantle (Wheeler), Watkin, King, Townsend (Allen), Maltby (Johnson), Bradbury.
