Three Spalding areas identified as possible locations for public art commissions

Public art commissioning will see three Spalding locations used for installations.

The Abbey Passage, The Hole in the Wall Passage and the empty space above Superdrug have all been identified as potential recipients.

A report to go before members of Spalding’s Town Centre Forum on Wednesday (June 8) says improvement plans also include targeting ‘poor quality’ properties.

Informal approaches ahead of potential enforcement action is ‘proving to be a successful approach’ says the report.

It gives the example of the Betfred premises which has been improved as a result.

Plans and designs for four areas of public seating at Swan Walk, Hall Place, Red Lion Street and the

Riverside are being developed, members of the forum will be told.

There has also been a feasibility study for a Business Improvement District which showed support for the suggestion.

Plans have already been put in place for this year’s Pumpkin Festival, on October 7 and 8, along with a Christmas celebration on Saturday, November 26.

Specialist markets, family entertainment and activities are planned for both events.
