Theatre comes to libraries

Open Book
Libraries across South Holland
Monday to June 18, various times.

Visitors to libraries across South Holland this month will see something rather different.

In 2013 Transported began a collaboration with local libraries in Boston Borough and South Holland called Open Book, exploring how libraries could be used as an arts venue rooted in its surrounding community.

The project was really successful last year, with workshops in papercraft and origami leading to installations, performances in both static and mobile libraries, and a poet on board the mobile library.

The project is continuing this year with a wide range of activity planned – including papercraft, silk painting and free performances.

Rhubarb Theatre’s new performance of Bookworms is suitable for all the family and is sure to entertain.

Kirsty Mead, of Rhubarb Theatre, said: “We are excited to link up with Lincolnshire libraries – Bookworms is all about promoting a love of books and stories, so it feels absolutely right to be performing in them.”

Following performances on board mobile libraries, the production will be touring to four of the static libraries, as well as some community events across the area this summer.
