The Saints march on with Athletic Lincs Junior Cup win

In-form Tydd St Mary marched into the next round of the Lincs Junior Cup on Saturday as they beat Billinghay Athletic 3-2.

Hosts Tydd opened the scoring when Stuart Easey’s ninth-minute corner was headed home by Daniel Piccaver (9), then Tim Lowe (39) made it 2-0.

Easey’s 25-yard stunner made it 3-0 before the visitors pulled one back.

Joe Harrison was later sent off and Billinghay scored again, but the Saints held on.

Tydd coach, Dave Monaghan said “We showed fantastic commitment and desire, playing some great football at times.

“Every player contributed to what was a fantastic result. That’s five wins on the bounce now.”
