The first Billiards Shield semi-finalists decided

The first semi finalists of the new Billiards Shield leagues has been decided.
In Division A, Pyramid B have finished first with nine points and will play the runners up in Division B.
They scored a maximum 3-0 win away at Holbeach A.
Maurice Phillipson (r80) edged home against Jason Rose (o5) 200-191, despite Rose having breaks of 29, 21 and 20.
Phil Cooke (r105) put them two up with a 21-point win against Mick Cooper (o205).
Cooper notched up six breaks, his best being 69, 43 and 35, while Cooke made a 25 and 22.
Darrell Read (r30) made it a clean sweep as he defeated Ben Harding (o5) 200-163.
Donington B sit in second place with seven points and await for the result of an outstanding fixture involving Gosberton, who will have to win 3-0, then aggregate scores will decide the runners up spot.
Donington B hosted Holbeach B and despite losing the first frame, went on to win 2-1.
Mick Pearl (r20) lost out to Denis Hix (r70) 200-166.
Neil Reynolds (o50) levelled it up for Donington as he won 200-170 against Andy Spearman (r80).
Reynolds having breaks of 34, 27, 26 and 24.
It was a clash of the “Neils” for the final frame, as Burton (r65) for Donington took on Harvey (r30) for Holbeach, Burton running out victor 200-147.
In Division B, Broadway have now qualified for the semi final stages despite it being their week off.
Services and Consti played each other, but with a game in hand, Services (five points) could qualify, but currently Consti sit in second place with seven points.
Services enjoyed a 2-1 win with Vince Fitter (r10) taking the first for them 200-175 against Alan Hansard (r110). Fitter making a 28 break.
Phil Spencer (r80) made it 2-0 by beating John Bellerby (r110) 200-149, however Stewart Davies (r45) pulled one back for Consti with a 34-point victory over Nigel Cherry (r75).
The other fixture in this division – Pyramid A v Donington A – was postponed.
