The candidates for the nine South Holland electoral divisions on Lincolnshire County Council have been revealed.
Voters will head to the polling stations to have their say on Thursday, May 4.
There will certainly be fresh elected members in Holbeach Rural, Donington Rural and Spalding South divisions where respective sitting members William Webb, Susan Wray (both Conservative) and Alan Jesson (Independence from Europe) are not seeking re-election.
Among those hoping to gain a seat for the first time are eight South Holland district councillors – Rodney Grocock, Peter Coupland, Christine Lawton, Gary Taylor and Jack Tyrrell (all Conservative), UKIP’s Paul Foyster and Pete Williams and Jane King (Independent).
Meanwhile, former South Holland District Council leader Eddy Poll is looking to regain his Spalding East seat. The Conservative Party member was ousted by UKIP’s Richard Fairman by just 53 votes at the last election, in 2013.
The most keenly-contested division is Spalding Elloe, in which sitting councillor Liz Sneath faces five challengers.
The current make-up of the 77-division council is: Conservative 37; Labour 12; UK Independence Party 9; Lincolnshire Independents 7; Liberal Democrat 4; Independent 4, Independence from Europe 3; one vacancy.
A recent review of the electoral arrangements decided that 70 councillors should represent 70 single-member electoral divisions, a reduction of seven.
