Ten 180s on first night of season

There were ten 180s on the first night of the new Spalding and District Darts League.

Rose and Crown C started strongly in Division One beating newly promoted Green Dragon A 7-2.

Logan Goddard, Steve Dent and Monty Bunn all scored maximum 180s whilst captain Ant Richardson had a 118 checkout and an 18-dart leg in the pairs with Goddard.

Mick Holstead was the sole singles winner for the Dragon.

Drayman’s A also started well with a 7-2 win over newly-promoted Consti D, Richard Cooper starring for Drayman’s with an 18-dart leg.

Drayman’s B didn’t fare as well as they lost 7-2 to Ye Olde Abbey. Abbey had won after the first five games.

The other two games were much closer. Last season’s winners Consti A won 5-4 against Mail Cart which came down to a last game 2-1 win for Nick Moyses against Jacob Herd. Sam Roberts and Geoff Herd had maximum 180s.

The other 5-4 result was between Rose and Crown A and Lincoln Arms A. The scoreline suggests a close game, but Rose and Crown had won with two games to go.

Gary Mace rolled back the years with two 180s and Lincoln captain Luke Rhodes had a maximum in a 17-dart leg.

Steve Stancer had a fine 137 check out hitting 57 tops tops. Stancer partnered with Tony Spinks to hit an 18-dart leg in their pairs victory.

Questions were asked over how well last season’s Division Three champions Pinchbeck FC A would fare in Division Two and they answered with a 9-0 victory over Lincoln Arms B. The highlight was a maximum 180 for Finlay Andrew.

New side Riverside B went straight into Division Two and proved their worth with a 5-4 win over Five Bells Tydd St Mary, captain Josh Higgins winning the all-important game to seal victory. Daz Norton and Lee Butler hit an 18-dart leg in their pairs victory.

Mulberrys were promoted due to the amount of new teams and in their first game played Consti E who were relegated from Division One.

Mulberrys caused an upset winning 5-4 with Wigs Harrison beating Paul Merrill to claim the win. Mick Atkin had a 107 checkout and Nathan Sage had a 17-dart leg.

Holbeach Services A started off solidly, beating last season’s Division Three runners up Pinchbeck FC B 7-2. Josh Burton had an 18-dart leg and Ryan Coddington and Mark Spiller had a fine 18-dart leg in their pairs game.
Riverside A had a 6-3 win over Holbeach Services B.

In Division Three, Draymans C had a 7-2 win over Pied Calf A in a positive start after being relegated last season.
Green Dragon B also started well beating Riverside C 6-3 with Callum Day hitting a maximum 180 in his victory over Chris Scotney.

Moulton Harrox beat Tigers A 6-3 finishing strong with three wins thanks to George Phillips, Jack Haunch and Daniel Wright.

The battle of the new boys saw Pinchbeck FC C winning 5-4 over Punchbowl. Gary Coomes won the last game last leg decider against Keane Slayven.
