Investigations have been launched following the death of an 18-year-old from Holbeach after an incident on a Boston building site.
The man, who has been named locally as Josh Disdel from Holbeach, is understood to have been working at the Whitebridges site off St Thomas Drive when the incident happened at around 8.45am on Friday, July 13.
Lincolnshire Police say the man was “in the road” when the incident, which involved a white Citroen Nemo van, happened.
The authority says its Serious Collisions Investigation Unit is investigating, as is the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Following the incident the teenager was taken to Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital. Later that morning, at around 10.50am East Midlands Ambulance Service transferred what it describes as a “person involved in a road traffic collision” to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he is understood to have died.
The body has yet to be formally identified.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire County Council, said: “’We are aware that following a work-related death on Friday July 13, examinations on an individual will be carried out this week to establish a cause of death and to carry out formal identification.
“Following this, the coroner will decide whether an inquest is required.”
Josh’s friends have posted their tributes to him online.
The former University Academy Holbeach and College of West Anglia pupil had a love of aircraft which he posted extensively about on social media.
Friends described his death as a “sad loss” and described him as a “great mate”.
A spokesman for the HSE told The Voice: “The HSE is aware of the incident and making initial enquiries alongside the police, who are in the lead of this investigation.”
Whitebridges is a development of 31 affordable homes, part of a total of 120 being constructed by Waterloo Housing Group on behalf of Boston Borough Council over a four year period. The authority is one of several partners in the group.
Andrew Bush, the group head of policy and communications at Waterloo Housing Group, said: “”We are currently working with the contractors developing the site for us and other authorities to fully understand what happened.
Most of all our thoughts go out to the family of the contractor who sadly passed away”.
Moulton Seas End based D Brown Building Contractors Ltd is the contractor appointed to build the Whitebridges site.
It had not provided a comment as The Voice went to press.
A spokesman for Boston Borough Council said that the authority had “no direct involvement on the site” but added “our sincere condolences go to the man’s family and friends.”
