All Saints’ Church, Holbeach, hosted members of the town’s university academy for a special service.
Year 7 students spent the first hour of the day learning about The Children’s Society and the history of Christingle which it adopted to raise funds.
The year group walked to the church where young musicians joined forces.
It was the first time the school had been back to the church as a group since the outbreak of the pandemic. The Christingle had been held at the school instead.
The return to the church saw performances from the Chamber Choir Year 7 Mash Up Band and the Ukulele Ensemble.
Pupils were also asked to speak about what they are grateful for, with family and friends the most common theme.
The service was led by the students with prayers and readings.
The lights are switched-off and the Christingles were lit to add to the atmosphere in the church.
Christingles are oranges decorated with red ribbon, sweets and a candle in the top to represent the light of the world.
