Strong showings from PNV aces at South of England Indoor Championship

Peterborough Nene Valley AC were well represented at Lee Valley in the South of England Indoor Athletics Championship with several athletes coming close to medals.

William Kong finished fifth in the under-17 400m final with a 54.30secs clocking.

His heat time of 53.51secs would have been good enough for third place in the final.

Kong was also seventh in the long jump with a distance of 5.91m.

Team-mate Joe Purbrick placed fourth in the under-17 60m hurdles final. He ran 8.36secs in his heat and a slightly slower 8.55secs in the final.

Katie Calcut made the under-17 girls’ 60m hurdles final, in which she finished seventh with a 9.12secs clocking.

Calcut had earlier recorded a personal best (PB) of 9.09secs in her heat.

She also competed in the 60m sprint, failing to make the final after an 8.33 clocking in the heats.

Max Roe qualified for the under 15’s 60m final with a 7.68secs PB in his heat. Sadly, he was unable to compete in the final.

Older brother Cody Roe finished fifth in the under-17 60m heat with a 7.51secs clocking.

Meanwhile, Francesca Fenwick cleared 1.50m for eighth place in the under-17 high jump.

Fenwick also competed in the long jump, finishing 12th with a distance of 4.73m.

  • Daryll Coulter, of Peterborough Nene Valley, placed 52nd at the Oundle 10k in a time of 45.04mins.

His club colleague Kelly Sutton crossed the line as sixth lady in 47.17mins.

  • Peterborough Nene Valley’s Chelsie Bole was the leading girl in the junior race at the March leg of the Frostbite League.
