Steely Sheffield show from South Lincs swimmers

Nine swimmers from South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club took part in the level one Robin Hood Long Course Open Meet at Ponds Forge in Sheffield – and some of them were lucky enough to meet Olympic hero Rebecca Adlington.

The Spalding-based team brought home a total of 15 medals, led by Will Swain (14yrs), who achieved gold in his 100m freestyle event.

Luke Elliott (15yrs) also shone with an amazing five silvers, which came in the 400m freestyle, 200m fly, 200m back, 100m fly, 100m backstroke – plus a bronze in the 200m IM.

Tom Mitchell (16yrs) also bagged double silver in the 200m and 100m backstroke, while Matthew Gray (14yrs) landed silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 50m backstroke.

Other medals saw Alan Sumpton (15yrs) take bronze in the 50m breaststroke and 50m fly, while Emily McCann (12yrs) took bronze in her 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle events.
