Spalding United are looking for their first Evo-Stik League First Division South points of the season tonight (Tuesday) as they play host to Brigg Town at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field (7.45pm).

Both sides lost their openers on Saturday, with Spalding slipping to a 2-0 loss at Sutton Coldfield Town and Brigg beaten 3-1 at home by Loughborough Dynamo.

Spalding supremo Pat Rayment admits that his side need to get points on the board as soon as possible ahead of games at home to Chasetown on Saturday (3pm) and then at Carlton Town on Monday (3pm).

He said: “There are no easy games at this level, but we showed signs on Saturday that we can be a big threat despite missing key men.

“We’ve got to get that first win under our belts to settle us down. If we can win these first two home games it’ll really set us up nicely.

“The games will come thick and fast and we can’t afford to go too long without getting points on the board.

“I know Brigg lost on Saturday too, so they’ll feel the same. But I’ve said it before, I’m only focused on my side and won’t be worrying about the opposition too much.”

Spalding number one Michael Duggan fit to return in goal and new signing Mitch Griffiths should make his first start after impressing as a sub on Saturday, but key defender Nathan Stainfield is out with a neck problem.

Strikers Andrew Tidswell and Mark Jones remain sidelined though, while skipper Michael Leary is expected to drop into defence to cover for Stainfield.

Elsewhere tonight, Pinchbeck United play host to Holbeach United Reserves in the Peterborough Premier Division and Moulton Harrox travel to Leverington Sports (both 6.30pm).

In Division One, Sutton Bridge United visit Wisbech Town Reserves (7.30pm).
