Wright on double for Tigers

A 2-2 draw at Diss Town on Saturday left Holbeach United just about safe from relegation in Division One North of the Eastern Counties League.

They are 12 points clear of the drop zone, with only 15 more points to be played for and four points from their last five games will ensure they maintain their Step Six status for next season.

However, they could have been two points nearer their target but for two controversial goals.

Callum Wright gave the Tigers a seventh-minute lead at the Waveney Valley side but they conceded a soft penalty in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time.

Wright then reclaimed the lead after 67 minutes only to be sent off in the fifth-minute of second-half stoppage time following protests when Diss grabbed a controversial last-gasp equaliser.

Last Wednesday at Carters Park, Holbeach went down 2-1 to Haverhill Borough. They trailled 2-0 at the break but substitute Dan Roberts pulled one back. Despite using all five substitutes, the Tigers were unable to score again.
