Stained glass lessons learned at craft day

Holbeach was made a little more colourful after a stained glass workshop taught attendees how to add a dash of colour to their lives.

Holbeach Cemetery Chapels Trustees organised a stained glass workshop, led by Gillian and David Wing from Strawberry Glass.

The event was one of the final activities funded by the Heritage Lottery, which has supported the trust for the past 18 months.

On Saturday, February 17, 10 people took part in the workshop and learned how to make the colourful glass using the copper foil technique. This involved participants learning to cut glass, copper foil the piece and finish it off by soldering and polishing their creations.

The Cemetery Chapels Trustees recently heard they had been awarded funding from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme and hope to continue offering activities.

The Trust will participate in the South Holland Heritage Taster week during the first week of April, with one of the popular cemetery trails during the afternoon of April 2 and a Children’s Drama Workshop on the morning of Friday, April 6.
