Squirrel is public’s favourite

Spalding artist Kerstin Lankey has been the named as the winner of the Public Vote Trophy in the 18th South Holland Open Arts Exhibition at the South Holland Centre.

Her work, Squirrel, completed in pastels and pastel pencils on Pastelmat board, was selected by members of the public from the 89 pieces of work on display.

Kerstin previously won the award in 2015.

She said the photorealistic drawing was the result of painstakingly detailed work, five or six hours a day over three weeks: “I wanted to go the extra mile with the detail, to make people look twice.” she said.

“Each hair is multiple layers of different colours.”
