A former drug addict is walking hundreds of miles across Britain to spread the love of Jesus.
Karl Payne (42), of Aldershot, passed through Sutton Bridge recently on his journey from Redcar in Yorkshire to Southend on Sea in Essex. He is wild hiking and camping along the way.
Karl, who was addicted to heroin and cocaine from 15 years old until he quit in January 2022, is carrying a cross to symbolise his love for Jesus.
He was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 20 and has been in and out of mental health hospitals since.
Karl says his faith and walking have both really helped improve his mental health.
He is married with an eight-month-old baby and twins on the way.
