Two penalties left Pinchbeck United without a United Counties League Division One win for the eighth game in a row.
The 2-0 defeat at home to FCV Grace Dieu was disappointing because the Knights had held their own against their promotion-chasing visitors and had plenty of chances to claim the points.
Josh Balding flashed a left-foot volley narrowly wide and Charlie Brooks hit the post with a powerful header from the corner before JJ Ward’s long-range shot was well saved by the academy team’s goalkeeper just before half-time.
Flynn Slater was also denied by the visitors before they went ahead with a 72nd minute spot kick.
It was 2-0 nine minutes later, again from the spot, after Brooks was sent off for the foul.
The Knights have a good chance to end their barren run on Saturday when they travel to struggling Clifton All Whites.
Knights: Martin, Stevens, Balding, Melson, Brooks, Eyes, Panton (Keating), Howlett (Akyuz), Slater, O’Connor (Dean, Makaka), Ward. Attendance: 70.
