Spalding’s thanks to the Armed Forces

People came from across Lincolnshire for Spalding’s Armed Forces Day Parade on Tuesday.

This week is Armed Forces Week celebrating those that defend the country.
Armed Forces Day itself is actually on Saturday, but Spalding traditionally marks it on the Tuesday alongside the usual market.
The King’s representative in Lincolnshire, Lord Lieutenant William Webb, took the salute as the parade marched through Market Place.
A service was conducted by Rev Aileen Workman which included opera singer Helen Verney performing Bring Him Home, Oksana Ponaida singing the Ukrainian national anthem and God Save the Queen led by pupils from Ayscoughfee Hall School.
Spalding Parish School children sung at a presentation in St Mary and St Nicolas Church afterwards where medals to mark the King’s Coronation were handed out.
Organiser Jan Whitbourn said: “It was a lovely occasion and a great way to celebrate our Armed Forces.
“Thanks to everyone who was involved.”
