Spalding United Reserves slipped to fifth in The ChromaSport Peterborough League Division One after suffering a 4-2 home reverse against Warboys Town on Saturday.
Keeper Ashley Elderkin was called into action a number of times early on, but it was the Tulips who went ahead when Robbie Relf marked his return from injury with a cool clipped finish from Jamie Cartlidge’s through ball.
That’s how it stayed all the way up until the hour mark, when Warboys levelled through Joe Bennet, who was in the right place when the ball cannoned off his shin and into the net after another Elderkin save.
If there was an element of fortune with the first away goal, the second was sheer brilliance from Mark Boucher as he curled home a long ranger effort from an acute angle.
By this time Spalding were beginning to tire and Warboys extended their lead through Dan Moulds and John Teti to finish off a great comeback.
Cartlidge pulled a goal back for Spalding, but it was to be only a consolation.
The Tulips are now nine points of leaders Stamford Lions, having played a game more.
They host lowly ICA Sports Reserves on Saturday (2pm).
Tulips Res: Elderkin, Phillips, Endersbee, Braybrook, Chilvers, Haw (Jason Chilvers), Harrison (Gosling), Nottingham (Cannon), Jack Chilvers (Klos), Relf, Wilson, Cartlidge.
