Spalding looks set to be involved in a Keep Britain Tidy initiative about littering due to cigarette butts.
The move was announced at the recent meeting of South Holland District Council.
The Keep Britain Tidy charity described the project as ‘very much in its infancy’ and did not want to comment further.
Coun Jim Astill, SHDC’s portfolio holder for environmental services, said at the meeting: “It’s in the early stages and the team is working with Keep Britain Tidy to understand how it will work.
“It’s painted as zero cost to us and hopefully that will remain the case.
“It will include bins in to be decided locations and other intervention activities.
“Just don’t get caught dropping a cigarette in and around Spalding as you’ll have Kingdom giving you a fine.”
