Spalding-based internet service provider LightSpeed Broadband has generously donated two new dugouts to Spalding Hockey Club.
The dugouts will be used for players, officials and supporters to sit in and take shelter at training and on match days.
Originally based at Spalding Grammar School and founded in 1953, Spalding Hockey Club moved to their home at Glen Park, Surfleet, in 2009 and is now the largest in Lincolnshire.
An important hub for the local community, it welcomes people from all walks of life, fielding seven adult men’s and women’s teams each week in competitive leagues.
New players are welcome to join when the season starts in September, and younger members are invited to the thriving and successful junior section which welcomes all players from aged four on a Saturday morning.
Elaine Allen, head of sponsorship for Spalding HC, said: “It is great to have LightSpeed Broadband on-board and supporting the club.
“They understand the importance of sport in the community and the difference it can make.
“Our club is run by a team of volunteers, who put in an incredible amount of time and effort into its smooth running and support like this is a benefit to us all.
“We are all delighted to finally have dugouts, which will make a huge difference to the club especially on match days.
“I would also like to thank the SPARC committee, who own and run Glen Park for their support in this project.”
Jake Allen, sales manager from LightSpeed, said: “It has been a pleasure to visit Spalding Hockey Club, to meet some of the players and to really see what an asset the club is to the local area.
“As we build our full fibre broadband network in towns across the East of England, we’re keen to work together and get involved with the local communities to make a real difference to residents.
“We look forward to meeting more of the teams, their families and the wider community at the club’s upcoming fixtures.”
LightSpeed is bringing the region’s fastest internet to Spalding as part of the roll out of its full-fibre network across the East of England and now thousands of residents in Spalding, Market Deeping, Bourne and Stamford can connect.
Customers can experience super smooth upload and download speeds of 1 Gigabit per second – 23 times faster than the average broadband speeds currently available, and five times more reliable than standard fibre broadband.
The company has invested more than £25 million building its full-fibre network in nine towns across South Lincolnshire, since it started in April last year.
Based at Fulney Hall in Spalding, LightSpeed is on track to reach 200,000 homes across the East of England by the end of this year and become the region’s leading internet service provider, creating 60 local jobs.
Thousands more homes and businesses across the region are being added to the network each week, enabling home working, streaming online entertainment, high speed gaming, and video calling with no buffering, lag or dropouts.
