Spalding Golf Club quartet are set for their longest day in aid of Macmillan

Four players from Spalding Golf Club are gearing up to take on one of the most gruelling feats in the game – the Macmillan Longest Day Challenge.

Anthony Murphy (handicap 7), James Quinton (17), Dan Mayfield (11) and Stuart Ruskin (26) will play four rounds of golf in one day at Spalding’s Surfleet course.

That equates to 72 holes, around 300 shots each and a 20 mile walk per person. To put that into context, the lads will essentially be walking the same distance from Holbeach to Peterborough.

They’ll get under way at 4.30am on Sunday, June 19 – and aim to finish just before darkness descends at around 10pm.

Last year saw almost 2,000 teams across the United Kingdom sign up to play 72 holes in one day, and raise over £1 million for people affected by cancer.
