Spalding Flower Parade stars head overseas

A delegation from the Spalding Flower Parade 2023 is heading to Jersey next week to represent the town in the Channel Island’s own celebration.

Ambassador Star Perry and deputy Holly Kendricks, alongside parade organiser Steve Timewell, are among those attending the Jersey Battle of Flowers on August 11 and 12.
The cost of the trip is being covered by funds from the parade and a contribution from South Holland District Council.
Steve said: “In years gone by when the Spalding Flower parade was at its height, the Flower Queen would visit Jersey and take part in their annual parade, then the Jersey Flower Queen would visit Spalding and take part in our parade.
“This sadly came to an end ten years ago.
“I am delighted that our ambassadors can appear in the Battle of Flowers in Jersey, they will ride on the float for St Helier.
“They will also appear in the Moonlight Parade.
“I have also managed to arrange a dinner with the local council there as well as some cultural visits.
“It will be an honour to welcome the Jersey queen to Spalding next May.”
