Spalding fish and chip shop’s Christmas cheer helps Pennygate charity

A Spalding charity has received a late Christmas present thanks to the owners of a town fish and chip shop.

Westlode Fisheries opened on Christmas Day to serve free lunch for those who would be on their own otherwise.

Around 35 people made use of the offer between 1pm and 3pm.

The family-run business also delivered fish and chips to Spalding Fire Station and delivered meals to several pensioners who were unable to cook for themselves.

Ten per cent of the Christmas Eve takings were also ear-marked for charity and the town’s Pennygate Foundation received a cheque for £155.11 this week.

Westlode Fisheries is run by Fardous Ali and her husband Sajid.

Family members Asif, Asad, Sal and Shahid Masaud also helped with the Christmas Day meal deliveries.
