Spalding and District Billiards League ace Johnson pleased to reach final despite loss

Spalding and District Billiards League legend Mick Johnson came up just short in his quest for county glory.

Johnson, who plays for Consti in the thriving Spalding league, reached the Lincolnshire Billiards Singles final, where he came up against English Amateur champion Rob Hall at Boston.

Johnson broke off and left a single baulk with the red over a baulk pocket – only for Hallto play off the top cushion, pot the red and make a monstrous break of 185 on his first visit.

Johnson did make a 54 break in reply, but was ultimately beaten.

He said: “Rob was far too good for me, but it was nice to reach the final.”
